    Description

    B&H sewing bird clamp, solid brass, Ch Waterman, B&H, Bradley and Hubbard, “Patent / Feb 15, 1853”, plain bracket and vise / turn screw.
    3.5” long, 2” wide, approx. 5” tall.
    Condition - overall excellent, complete, tarnished surface, original padding / missing original covering on pin cushion

    - 1883-84 Bradley and Hubbard Mfg Co catalog shows these clamps listed as #1 production number.
    - B&H, Bradley and Hubbard, Meriden, Conn (1853-1940). This is considered an early production item of Bradley, Hatch & Co (1850-1854), later becoming Bradley & Hubbard, then Bradley & Hubbard Manufacturing Co in 1875.
    - First Sewing clamp patent was for this bird and awarded to Charles Waterman, Meriden, CN, Feb 15, 1853 and then consigned it to B&H
